Awning Design

Retracting Awnings

A retractable awning provides all-weather protection and can be easily retracted when not needed. It can be customised to various shapes and designed to offer shade only or both shade and rain protection.

A retractable awning is the ideal choice when you need a cover that can be easily retracted with the push of a button. Alternatively, you may choose a manually operated awning.

Retracting Sails

Retractable sails are sail-like structures that function as retractable awnings. They are sturdy and lightweight, and can be customised to almost any size and shape. They offer aesthetic appeal with minimal infrastructure. Retractable sails can be operated either manually or with a motor.

Concertina Awnings

A concertina retracting awning provides all-weather protection and can be easily retracted at the push of a button. The fabric of the awning is stiffened with evenly spaced ribs along its length. These ribs help the awning to shed water and increase its stability during high winds. Unlike a traditional roller mechanism, a concertina awning bunches up to one end when retracted. It can be supplied with its own poles and frame or designed to suit an existing structure.

Pergola Awnings

A pergola awning can be fixed, demountable, or retractable. It can be installed above, within, or below an open framed structure and can provide just shade or both shade and rain protection. Fabric awnings are a great cover solution for an open pergola because they are lightweight, unobtrusive, and can be made to fit almost any shape.

Permanent Awnings

Permanent awnings are typically lightweight, rainproof fabric structures that contain battens or cables to strengthen the fabric. The additional support helps to ensure that rainwater runs off in all conditions and prevents flapping in high wind conditions. A permanent awning can be self-supporting with arms, have poles and a frame, or be custom-designed to fit an existing frame. A permanent awning with battens may have a curved, pitched, or straight profile.

Acoustic Blinds

Acoustic blinds and awnings can reduce noise from neighbours and enable commercial venues to operate for longer hours. They have minimal impact on the view and also provide protection from wind and rain.

Acoustic blinds are typically made using thicker, heavier clear PVC fabric. Due to the weight of the fabric, acoustic blinds are usually motorised, although manual options are available for smaller blinds.

Shade Sails

Shade sails can be demountable or fixed and are often set up for summer and taken down for winter. They can be supported by walls, arms, or poles, providing a lightweight and robust shade solution that blends in with any style of home or apartment.

Shade sails can be made to almost any shape and size, with a wide range of fabrics available. Outrigger manufactures shade sails from tensile shade fabrics that hold their shape and do not stretch or sag over time. They are made like traditional sails with zigzag stitching and a triradial fabric pattern to evenly distribute tension throughout the fabric.
