Problem
The top floor terrace faced straight North and was exposed to the hot Summer sun from 7.00am to 7.00pm. The high exposed location and the amazing view meant it needed to be a robust solution without poles.
Solution
An Outrigger cantilevered rainproof awning was the ideal solution for this area. The awning measures 5.2m wide x 3.0m long and covers bifold doors and an outdoor lounge setting. The brief from the Client was for a robust permanent all weather awning suitable for this high wind location.
Features
The key features of this project was for an awning to extend out 3 metres without poles, and to withstand Category 1 winds of 140 km/h. To ensure the integrity of the awning the arms were secured to a solid concrete slab with stainless steel bolts with a tensile load rating of more than 9 tons each.
Benefits
The awning kept the sun and rain off the bifold doors. It created a new area that was comfortable to use over the hot Summer months, and into Spring and Autumn.
